We have been making our mark on the customs world for almost 30 years, thanks to our expertise, the latest know-how, and a customer-focused approach. We are first and foremost a family-run business operating on the Swiss border as a purely objective and independent customs agency.
How it all started
Company founder Max Porzig successfully completed his training as a freight forwarding specialist in 1963, after which he continued to work exclusively in the field of customs at a number of different haulage companies. When the A81 Stuttgart-Schaffhausen motorway was connected to the border at the end of the 1980s, Porzig was presented with an opportunity to become his own boss.
Up to this point, Basel had been the only major border crossing between Germany and Switzerland – hopelessly overloaded, with Bietingen/Thayngen thus offering a good alternative.
Max and Sylvia Porzig read the situation correctly and understood the challenges that were brought about with the expansion of the border crossing. They were always one step ahead, one step quicker, thus the first to secure a rental space at the old Bietingen customs office. Here, the Zollas family could be right next to the action.
After just a short time, business began to boom: increasing numbers of carriers were understandably pleased at being processed so reliably and under favourable terms. Today we are still the first on site in the morning and the last to leave in the evening, working on Saturdays was and is simply par for the course.
Our philosophy…
We operate as a medium-sized business: our Zollas team now boasts over 20 employees at different locations. This includes Diana Porzig and Iris Porzig-Erny, who continue to carry the company philosophy into the future: reliable, competent, independent, and always acting in the customer’s best interest.
